Welcome to the guide of library resources and services for students in the Developmental Reading course. Here you will find the basics of what your ESU library has to offer and how to get started with basic research.

This Guide will point you to some of our more useful databases, provide tips on searching and tell you how and where to get help when you need it. It will also review many of the points we discussed when your class visited the library.

• The library web page is the gateway to library resources & services.
• Your library card is your University e-card.
• You can borrow laptops -- PCs & MacBooks -- and IPads for use in the library.
• There are folks at the library to help you. They're called librarians - seek them out!
• We have 2 computer labs that are available most hours the library is open.
• There is a Writing Center to help you become a better writer --- go talk to them!
• The library is open 7 days a week during the regular semester.
• We have a Curriculum Materials Center for students studying to become teachers.
• We have lots of space for studying and working.
• We have a cafe.

In addition to all the materials that support your studies, the library also has things just for relaxing. Here are a few suggestions:

• Check out our Current Bestsellers shelves for a good read: fiction, mystery, biographies, nonfiction from the New York Times Bestsellers list and others

• We've got DVDs: Looking for something to watch --  check out our growing collection of DVDs from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer  to The Blind Side, to The Color Purple -- there's something for all tastes.

• Want to keep up with news from home -- we've got print newspapers from the local areas (Allentown, Easton, Scranton) as well as national newspapers from New York, Philly and Washington, DC. Check out our National Newspapers database to see what's going on around the country.

• Are you a jazz aficionado -- check out all the LPs, CDs and other cool stuff in our Al Cohn Jazz Collection on the ground floor of the library

• Meet your friends for a coffee or latte at our Food For Thought Cafe -- they serve Starbucks (they're only open during the regular school year so you'll need to wait until the fall semester starts to check them out).
