Kemp Library

Fall 2020 Building Hours - Begins August 31

  • Monday through Thursday: 8:00 am - 10:00 pm
  • Friday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am -  5:00 pm
  • Sunday: 9:00 am - 10:00 pm

Kemp Library is currently operating under restrictions to keep the community healthy.

  • Please remember that you must wear a mask in the building for your safety and the safety of others.

  • Please do not sit next to other people and maintain at least six feet of distance between yourself and others. Individual study only is permitted due to social distancing. 

    • Furniture has been rearranged in the building, please do not rearrange the furniture

Only the main floor (where you enter) and second floor can be used

  • The group study room is not available due to social distancing. 

  • No eating in the library - this is to assist with not removing masks. Drinks are permitted.

  • The cafe will be closed Fall 2020

  • No fines will be given for items currently checked out

  • Books can be returned to the library using the book drop, located outside the library to the left of the entrance.

  • You can scan items into PDFs for free.

  • Physical photocopies are currently not available. 

All students, faculty, and staff must have their ESU eCards to swipe in and enter the library.  

Current Active Services:

  • PALCI/EZ Borrow- service has been restarted.  Students, staff, and faculty may now request books.  They must pick their books up at the library. They may call the library before they arrive, and their books can be already checked out and ready to go. The pre-checked out books will be ready in the pickup area. The pickup area is located just after the exit gate to the right.
  • Interlibrary loan via ILLiad for electronic items only. 
    • PLEASE NOTE: Due to staffing, Interlibrary Loan articles may take longer fill electronically.
  • Research assistance, virtually (see box on left)
  • Librarian virtual instruction (must be scheduled in advance)

All of the library's electronic resources and services are and will remain accessible to students and faculty.  Resources such as Primo, discipline specific research databases, all of the ejournalsebooks, and electronic Course Reserve through Primo will continue to be accessible to members of the university community using their university credentials. Please contact the librarians or your subject specialist librarian with any questions. 

  • If you have questions about your textbook and if it's available as an ebook please fill out this form and we will get back to you shortly (for students and faculty)

Suspended Services:

  • Access to the bottom floor of the library is suspended - if you'd like an item on this floor please request it from the Circ Desk (57-422-3126)
  • Lamination is currently suspended (ESU students can go to Kistler Printing for a discount, bring your ID)
  • Photocopies can no longer be supported (machines are no longer available) 
    • ESU students can go to Kistler Printing for a discount, bring your ID
    • Scanning is available for free in the library 

Library faculty provide research assistance virtually and in person 7 days a week to the ESU community during the fall.

Monday through Thursday: 9 am to 9 pm (virtual and in person)

 Friday: 9 am to 5 pm (virtual and in person)

Saturday and Sunday: 9 am to 5 pm (virtual only)  

In person sessions require masks to be worn at all times.

We offer services for faculty to help you get materials to your classes.

Any events scheduled in Kemp Library through the end of Fall 2020 have been canceled.
