Kemp Library During Fall 2020

This is a list of resources that may help you do schoolwork from home:

Ebooks and Textbooks online: please see the Faculty tab for multiple options, including the National Emergency Library. Many services are running free for a few months to help students while the nation is in quarantine. 

 VitalSource® is ensuring students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will have free access to quality digital learning materials through the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. Students simply log in to the VitalSource Bookshelf app using their school email address (or create an account using your ESU email) and can then view course materials from participating publishers via VitalSource’s Explore capabilities within Bookshelf.

Free internet access for families:

If you do not have access to a computer, please know that D2L, Zoom and email work on smartphones Students can access D2L (through the D2L app "Brightspace Pulse"), Zoom and email on smartphones to do the following:

  • Read documents including PPT, DOCX, XLSX and PDF and watch video content.
  • Create threads and post replies to discussion posts.
  • Use quizzing tool – WITHOUT Respondus Lockdown Browser
  • Monitor grades via grade tool

Zoom app is available in App Store and Google Play

There are some limitations to using smartphones:

  • No Respondus Lockdown Browser/Monitor
  • Cannot upload documents for assignments into Dropbox

If you do not have a laptop, here is a resource (about $30.00) to be able to type on your smartphone.

The app/website UNIdays has several discounts available to students. Sign up if you haven't already with your ESU email to take advantage of offers.
