How do I access the online DSM-5 from off campus?

  1. Click on either the direct link to the DSM-5 or the link to the PsychiatryOnline database.

  • Option 1 (on the left side): Select East Stroudsburg from the Institution dropdown box and then type in your ESU username (you do not need the @live.esu.edu part) and password.  Then click on the Login button.
  • Option 2 (on the right side): Type in your ESU e-Card ID number (include the zeros) and your last name.  Then click on the Login button.

       3.  If you use the PsychiatryOnline database link, then click on the purple image of the DSM-5 on the right hand side.

PsychiatryOnline: Click on the DSM-5 on the right.

Can I download sections from the online DSM-5?

No, the DSM-5 cannot be downloaded as an entire e-book. Individual sections cannot be downloaded either.  You need to have an internet connection to access the DSM-5 and read it online.

View the video tutorial for the Online DSM-5 for an extra tip about downloading and printing pages.

I need help from a librarian.  What should I do?

You can get help from a librarian several ways:

  • Schedule a virtual appointment with a librarianhttps://esu.libcal.com/appointments/
  • Chat with a librarian: Go to the Kemp Library website and look for the red Ask Us! button on the right hand side. The Ask Us! button is active when an ESU librarian is available to live chat.
  • Go to the Contact Us page: Use the email form on the right side of the webpage to email a librarian.
  • Call the Research Assistance phone number at (570) 422-3594.

The current hours for Research Assistance are posted on the Library Services LibGuide here: https://esu.libguides.com/spr2020/ra

How is the DSM-5-TR (Text Revision) different from the DSM-5?

DSM–5–TR includes fully revised text and references, updated diagnostic criteria and ICD–10–CM codes since DSM–5 was published. Learn more from PsychiatryOnline's DSM-5-TR Fact Sheets: https://www.psychiatry.org/psychiatrists/practice/dsm/educational-resources/dsm-5-tr-fact-sheets
