Go to CINAHL Complete and click on Advanced Search to see more search options.
In the Advanced Search, you will see 3 search boxes near the top and many options to Limit Your Results further down the page. Review your assignment guidelines and select what you need.
Limit your results options include:
1) Select Full Text only if you need the article right now (i.e. today or by tomorrow).
Keep in mind: If you limit to full text all the time, you could potentially eliminate useful articles, which you could otherwise request through interlibrary loan and get it typically within a few days.
2) Limit by Publication Date. Most nursing professors may want you to limit the search to the last 5 years. Type 2013 in the first year box and 2018 in the second. Tip: The month doesn't really matter.
3) Check off Peer Reviewed to limit results to peer reviewed journals only.

Need a journal article written by a nurse? Follow these steps in CINAHL.
1) Go to CINAHL Complete and click on Advanced Search (under the search box).
2) Scroll down to view the Limit your results options.
3) Select either Any Author is Nurse or First Author is Nurse.
4) Review your assignment guidelines and select any other required limits (See Advanced Search tab above for more details). Your resources may need to be limited to:
5) Scroll back up and type in your keyword(s).
Start with broad keywords on your topic, as the number of results with author as nurse may be very small.
Example Search: I need journal articles written by a nurse for my paper on children with asthma. I have to use peer reviewed journals published within the last 5 years.
The number of results for this search will change dramatically depending on the limits and keywords.
The more you narrow, the less results you'll get!
