Nursing Resources

A research guide on Nursing resources for ESU students and faculty.

Nursing Reference Center Plus

Nursing Reference Center Plus  ("NRC Plus") provides staff nurses and nurse educators with a resource that supports education goals, encourages residents and students to access the original research, and provides options for patient care while preserving and supporting the essential learning opportunities that educators want to provide.

It includes:

  • Basic and Advanced Search Options
  • Diseases & Conditions: Browse and search through evidence-based information about diseases and conditions.   Example: Heart Failure and Alcohol
  • Skills & Skill Competency Checklists: Skills are clinical topics detailing the necessary steps to achieve proficiency in specific nursing tasks. The checklists can be used to determine a nurse's proficiency in performing a needed skill.  Example: Administering Medication Through a Nasogastric Tube
  • Drug Information from Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses and AHFS Drug Information Essentials. Example: Ofloxacin
  • Patient Education Handouts: Easy to read evidence based handouts. Spanish-language versions are available for nearly all handouts.  Example: Discharge Instructions for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma-Child
  • Nursing Management Topics: Management topics focus on nursing leadership in a wide variety of domains, including financial management, governance, decision-making, driving organizational change, fostering employee growth, strategic planning, etc.  Example: Assessing Clinical Competence
  • Continuing Education: Each course consists of course materials, an interactive review, a final test, and a module evaluation. Accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
